Description
Free microfibre cloth with each can of Renaissance Wax.
Renaissance Wax is used to restore and conserve objects both new and old. Highly versatile, it is ideal on metals, timber, antiques, furniture, sculptures, plaques, smooth leather, paper and ceramics.
Renaissance Wax protects against moisture and contaminants and seals in anti-corrosion coatings. Waxes last longer than oils and aren’t sticky, and Renaissance Wax is easy to apply and remove. It even serves as a lubricant and protectant for household items, such as for zips, shoes, keys and locks.
Apply it with a soft cloth and buff it to a soft sheen. Use multiple layers if desired. Its shelf-life is several years or more, and adding a few drops of mineral turpentine can “revive” older pots of wax.

About Renaissance Wax
Renaissance Wax™ was developed in the British Museum Research Laboratory in the late 1950s by Dr A E A Werner. It is manufactured by Picreator Enterprises Ltd, a family-run business that was established in 1967 in London, England. In 1984, Picreator was granted a Royal Warrant by Her Majesty The Queen as “supplier of products for restoration and conservation”. Their products are frequently in use by restorers at various Royal residences to preserve interior objects and surfaces as well as exterior items such as sculptures in the gardens.
Renaissance Wax is based on stable microcrystalline waxes refined from crude oil. Unlike other waxes based on beeswax and carnauba wax, Renaissance Wax is non-acidic and will not turn acidic over time. With finer crystals, it goes on glass-clear and forms a better layer of protection against rust. In art conversation, surface treatments must be easily removed in case a better solution becomes available in the future. The wax is easily removed if required.
The wax is part of a family of products for cleaning, de-burnishing and preserving items:
- Vulpex™ Liquid Soap is a safe cleaner for materials ranging from paper to stone.
- Renaissance™ Metal De-Corroder is a non-toxic rust-removal system with full control.
- Pre-Lim™ Metal Burnisher is a gently abrasive paste for non-scratch cleaning of metals and many sensitive fine-art surfaces.
- Groom/Stick™ is a unique, dry, non-abrasive paper cleaner suitable for various library materials.
- Phosphor-bronze brushes are available for stone cleaning and metal burnishing.
